Arjan Bhullar first Indian fighter to win world MMA

Arjan Bhullar becomes first Indian-origin fighter to win world title at top level MMA event

Arjan Singh Bhullar born May 13, 1986. He is a Canadian mixed martial artist and former freestyle and folk style wrestler of Indian origin. In the WWE championships, Arjan Bhullar defeated Brandon Vera to win the ONE Championship Heavyweight title. Further all he became the first Indian origin fighter to win a world title in a top level MMA promotion. When Arjan Bhullar beat Brandon Vera to become the heavyweight world champion at the Singapore based One Championship. By defeating Vera, Bhullar ended the Filipino American’s five year championship winning run. To do so he was the first Indian athlete.

Bhullar completely dominated in the second round of the fight. “It’s the first time in my entire career that I felt gassed in the first round,” Vera said in the post match interview. Above all he said “I’m in shape, we’ve been training, we’ve been working with the best people in the world. This is new for me.”

Bhullar come back after the Commonwealth game 2010

A former wrestler, Arjan Bhullar had won the Commonwealth games gold medal in New Delhi back in 2010 and in 2012 in London. Obviously he became the first Indian freestyle wrestler to represent Canada at the Olympics. It is the big achievement for Bhullar. After his wrestling career, when he won his UFC debut against Luis Enrigue Barbosa de Oliveira in UFC 215. After then he had become the first Indian origin fighter to win a UFC fight.
